Job Description

A well-established professional services organization is seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable Specialist to join its accounting team.

Payment Management

  • Record and post incoming payments received through various channels, including ACH, wire transfers, credit cards, lockbox payments, and checks.
  • Ensure customer payments are accurately allocated and reflected within accounting records.
  • Review daily cash activity and assist with deposit verification and tracking.
  • Support refund requests and payment adjustments when required.

Accounts Receivable Administration

  • Maintain accurate client account information and payment histories.
  • Assist in monitoring outstanding receivables and aging reports.
  • Support collection efforts through account research, follow-up activities, and issue resolution.
  • Help improve payment turnaround times and support overall cash collection goals.

Account Analysis & Reconciliation

  • Research unapplied cash, payment discrepancies, and account variances.
  • Reconcile client balances and investigate exceptions.
  • Process returned payments and coordinate resolutions with internal and external parties.
  • Ensure financial records remain complete, accurate, and audit-ready.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounts receivable, cash applications, collections, or related accounting functions.
  • Professional services, legal, financial services, public accounting, consulting, or similar industry experience is required
  • Strong understanding of receivables management, payment processing, reconciliations, and account maintenance.
  • Experience working within accounting, billing, or ERP systems.
